Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt says the outlook for the clean-up in South East Queensland is “quite promising”.
South East Queensland was lashed with intense rainfall, hail, and destructive winds for more than a week, resulting in flash flooding across the state.
“We may have some showers across South East Queensland later in the week but certainly that heavy rainfall does seem to have stopped,” he told Sky News Australia.
“Which of course gives homeowners and authorities a much better opportunity to get in there and do the clean-up work that lies ahead.
“There’s a really big repair task and clean-up task ahead of South East Queensland, particularly on the Gold Coast and the Gold Coast Hinterland.”
