The latest Newspoll has revealed a trend of declining support for Labor and it seems the cost of living is to blame.

About half of those surveyed say they are in a worse financial position under Anthony Albanese's leadership, compared to two years ago.

Australians want the Prime Minister to get tough on the soaring cost of living as the government is now in damage control.

Redbridge Group Director Simon Welsh says there has been a “softening” of the Labor vote, particularly in outer suburban areas which have been hit hardest by the cost of living crisis.

“What we're seeing when we talk to folk out there is this absence of presence from government on these issues … they’re just not seeing action happen on the things that are really mattering to them right now.”
