Former US president Donald Trump has slammed the Republican debates, claiming “they are not watchable”.

Five candidates took to the stage as Donald Trump chose again not to attend, instead holding his own rally as polls continue to show the billionaire sitting comfortably ahead as the Republican favourite.

“Do you think we did the right thing by not participating?” he asked supporters at a Florida rally.

“The last debate was the lowest-rated debate in the history of politics.”

The next Republican debate is scheduled for December 6 in Alabama, with candidates required to qualify for attendance.
