The political fundraising scandal rocking Japanese politics has claimed its first casualties. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno resigned after receiving resignation letters from three other ministers. Yoshimasa Hayashi, who stepped down as foreign minister in Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s last reshuffle in September, will replace him as Mr Kishida’s new right-hand man.
