Rescue workers are desperately trying to remove huge slabs of concrete, debris and mangled iron rods to reach construction workers who became trapped when a tunnel they were digging in the Himalayas collapsed.
A total of 40 men have been stuck for more than 24 hours after a landslide caused the roof of the tunnel to cave in at 5am on Sunday, blocking the exit.
Videos show excavators going through the entrance of the tunnel in northern India’s mountain state of Uttarakhand in an attempt to clear the entrance. Removing it is a delicate task, however, as more rubble keeps falling.
