STORYLINE:
Trucks laden with aid drove into the Gaza Strip from Egypt through the Rafah Crossing on Monday.

It came as Israel and Hamas appeared open to extending the cease-fire in Gaza that has halted their deadliest and most destructive war.

The agreement was to expire on Monday after the planned fourth exchange of hostages by militants for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel.

Israel has said it would extend the cease-fire by one day for every 10 additional hostages released.
