(5 May 1994) Pakistani troops raided the headquarters of an ethnic party in
Karachi on Wednesday (4/5) and detained 66 activists for
interrogation after six days of street violence in which at least
32 people were killed. Authorities ordered the raid on the
headquarters building of the Mohajir National Movement (MQM), a
party which speaks for Moslem immigrants from India.
