The four-day truce in fighting between Israel and Hamas began at 7:00 AM local time on Nov. 24. Over the four days of the truce, a total of 50 women and children kidnapped by Hamas will be released. The first batch of 39 Palestinian prisoners will be released at about 8 PM local time, according to Israeli Army Radio. The UN said Israel intensified bombing across Gaza ahead of the Truce on Nov. 24. An IDF spokesperson said that achieving control over the northern half of the Gaza Strip will mark only the first stage of the war for Israel. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu accused the United Nations of being slow to attend to the spiralling humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
