About 40 to 45 percent of the 29,000 air-to-ground munitions Israel has used have been unguided, otherwise known as “dumb bombs,” the report added. The assessment was compiled by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and described to CNN by three sources who have seen it. “Dumb bombs” do not contain a guidance system and they usually follow a ballistic trajectory or are dropped from aircraft.
Meanwhile, Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk has suggested that the outfit could recognise Israel for the first time. Earlier, Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh said he is open to talks for ending the ongoing war. In a televised speech, Haniyeh also called for “putting the Palestinian house in order both in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.” He spoke of a “political path that secures the right of the Palestinian people to their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.” The Palestine Liberation Organization which runs the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, recognized Israel as part of the Oslo Accords in the 1990s.
