North Korea has claimed it has successfully launched its first spy satellite into orbit.
Kim Jong Un oversaw the launch and according to state media, North Korea will launch additional satellites in the near future.
The rocket briefly flew over the Japanese Island of Okinawa.
Residents were warned to take shelter as it flew overhead.
The US and Japan have condemned the launch – claiming it violates multiple UN Security Council resolutions.
