A coal mine worker has been killed after an incident at a major open-cut mine in northern Queensland.

The 27-year-old is understood to have died in a light vehicle accident.

The incident occurred at the mine in Dysart.

All operations have been suspended at the facility.

It is the second death in five years after a man was killed in a similar accident back in 2018.
