The festival can be traced to pre-Christian festivals when Vikings celebrated the winter solstice.
This year, the torch light procession will mark the start of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2023, which is the 30th anniversary of the three-day New Year festival.
The event will have a new route, starting from the Meadows and ending at Castle Terrace beneath Edinburgh Castle3. The event is expanded to raise a fund of 50k for Social Bite, a charity that tackles homelessness in Scotland23.
