York Regional Police say that one person has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a baby on Thursday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Centre Street and Dufferin Street in the Thornhill neighbourhood of Vaughan around 6 p.m.
Police say they received calls for an injured person and arrived to find an infant unresponsive when they arrived at the home.
The baby was rushed to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.
Police say that as of Friday, one person has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death and that no other suspects are wanted.
It is unclear what the relationship shared, if any, is between the accused and the infant and officers say they won’t be releasing further details about either of them at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423, extension 7865.
