China has said the Philippines was responsible and had “entirely caused” recent incidents in the South China Sea. In recent months, the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) ships have been attacked by the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG). The situation reached a breaking point in late October when a PCG craft and a military-run supply boat were attacked by a CGC ship. To deter the Chinese threat, Manila is seeking more military agreements with other nations that would allow joint training, said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Marcos Jr’s statement came as the Southeast Asian country tries to build on growing defence ties with the US and Japan.
