France's president, Emmanuel Macron, was opining on one of his favourite topics at The Hague, when activists made an intervention criticising the state of French democracy.

As Macron thanked the Nexus Institute for hosting him, one protester shouted: 'I think we lost something; where is French democracy?' at the start of Macron's speech on European sovereignty at the Nexus Institute. Another chimed in: 'Why did you bypass [the] French parliament?' in reference to the controversial pensions bill his government recently passed.
