Hunt supporters who gathered at a Boxing Day hunt in Abergavenny, Wales, were called “pathetic women beaters”, “cowards”, “little perverts”, and “murderers”. Animal rights protesters also exclaimed that the Monmouthshire Hunt supporters were “sick in the head” during the event. With traditional fox hunting banned, enthusiasts now take part in trail hunts, where packs of hounds follow an artificial scent, but animal rights campaigners claim this serves as a 'cover' for killing foxes. A large police presence saw off any major clashes.
