External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made a big statement on India's Russian oil purchase. Jaishankar said we have learned to stand up for our own interests and allies. He added that diplomacy is not about giving other people a say in your choices. On December 7, Vladimir Putin acknowledged the pressure on India by the western world and applauded its stand on Russia. Notably, the India-Russia trade has crossed nearly $50 billion in the first nine months of 2023. The two nations have surpassed their own trade targets well before six years. The bilateral trade target of $50 billion was set for 2030, which was completed in 2023.
