Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed at a year-end news conference in Moscow that there would be no peace in Ukraine until his goals are achieved.
“There will be peace when we achieve our goals that you’ve just mentioned. Now let's return to these goals, they have not changed,” he said.
He also gave rare details on what Moscow calls its special military operation. Putin dismissed the need for a second wave of mobilization of reservists to fight in Ukraine and said “The length of the line of contact (front line) is over 2,000 kilometres. There is a grouping of 617,000 people in the combat zone."
According to Putin, the armed forces have been improving their position along almost the entire line of contact. He stated that the troops are currently in an active stage of action, and there is an improvement in their position throughout the entire length.
