After two failed missions, Chandrayaan 1 and 2, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has finally landed Vikram on the surface of the South Pole of the Moon. With the Chandrayaan 3 mission, India made history as the 4th country to successfully land on the surface of the moon. As the Lander Vikram landed, it released a Rover, which in turn made some new and shocking discoveries. Discovering new minerals under the surface, along with frozen ice water in the South Pole, the Chandrayaan 3 mission is recognized for its importance both by NASA and the entire space science community, especially Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
