Taiwan has foiled a plot for the Chinese Navy to steal a CH-47 Chinook helicopter from the Taiwanese military. China offered a Taiwanese pilot $15 million to fly the heavy lift chopper to a PLA* Navy aircraft carrier, as per an indictment made public on Dec. 11. Lt Col Hsieh of the 601st Aviation Brigade initially rejected the plan as too risky, but the Chinese spies working with him kept sweetening the deal. However, he agreed when they offered to give him a $1 million deposit, a monthly salary of $6,355 and Thai visas for his family. Watch the video to find out why China want the Chinook and how are they “luring” Taiwanese officers to defect.
