The Israel Defense Forces says aircraft and tanks completed a series of strikes in southern Lebanon and Syria in response to rocket attacks on Israel. The IDF says it hit an army infrastructure in Syria, including an observation post, and in Lebanon, it claims to have hit a Hezbollah rocket launcher. The IDF has reportedly started pumping seawater into Hamas’s underground tunnel system in Gaza. Israeli troops claim they have recovered the bodies of two hostages captured by Hamas on October 7. The UN has demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war after 153 of the 193-member General Assembly backed the move. The United States, which does not have a veto in the General Assembly, voted against the resolution, along with Israel and eight other countries.
