The challenging state of Scottish education was laid bare today with the latest report card from the Programme for International Student Assessment.
The PISA study - which normally comes out every three years - measures the performance of 15-year-olds in reading, maths and science.
In each category, Scotland's scores - which were already in historical decline - are now at their lowest ever levels.
