Israeli security forces fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse Palestinians who gathered in the West Bank town of Beitunia to welcome prisoners released from Israeli jails early on Friday. Under a deal between Israel and Hamas, the prisoners were freed in exchange for hostages being kept in the Gaza Strip. Israel had said it would not allow celebrations to be held for released prisoners in the parts of the West Bank it controls.
