After dyeing my hair for seven years, I am going on an eight week journey to make my hair healthy once again. This week, I tried out an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse! For this hair rinse, I used Bragg Organic Raw-Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar with honey added in, which is also a healthy natural ingredient for your hair, offering further hydration and strengthening bonuses. Apple cider vinegar has been all the rage recently, with people claiming benefits for hair, skin, weight loss, and more, however, there is little scientific evidence backing these claims.
According to Nebraska University Health Center, apple cider vinegar is apple juice that has been fermented several times. Apples are crushed and mixed with yeast or another carbohydrate in the first round, and over time, natural basteria ferments the juice, converting the alcohol into acetic acid.
WHAT is ACV supposed to do for your hair?
-Encourage hair growth
-Restore shine
-Protect color
-Cleanse hair of product and oil build up
-Add volume
-Relieve itch and dandruff
Once again, it is not scientifically proven that apple cider vinegar does do all that the internet promises that it does, but the at home results may show some truth, as science does support that it may lower your hair and scalp's pH which may contribute to shinier hair.
Some even use apple cider vinegar as a replacement for shampoo, which is a variation for the "No Poo" method, ditching traditional haircare products, and adopting natural alternatives.
