Citizens of Venezuela approved a referendum to claim sovereignty over a disputed territory with neighbouring Guyana.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who called the referendum, said the result was an overwhelming victory.
Venezuela has long argued that the territory known as Essequibo was stolen when the border was drawn over a century ago.
