A German tourist was stabbed to death and two people were injured in an attack near the Eiffel Tower.
The suspect, a Franco-Iranian who was known to authorities as a radical Islamist, was chased by police and arrested shortly after the incident, which took place at about 9pm near the Quai de Grenelle, in the west of the city.
President Macron said in a post on Twitter/X that he was sending his condolences to the family of the victim of the “terrorist attack”. Elisabeth Borne, the prime minister, tweeted: “We will not give in to terrorism. Never.”
