Webster University Assistant Professor Ralph Schoellhammer says Geert Wilders’ win in the Dutch election is “quite the victory” but the left will “do everything they can do” to prevent him from becoming Prime Minister.
Mr Wilders’ Freedom Party won almost 25 per cent of the vote at the election on Wednesday, winning 37 of 150 seats in the lower house.
The party advocates for a referendum on leaving the EU, a total halt on accepting asylum seekers and a de-Islamisation of the Netherlands.
“The media, the left-wing, the cartel between the media, the culture, the artistic and the politics – they are going to do everything they can to prevent Wilders from becoming Prime Minister,” Mr Schoellhammer told Sky News Australia.
“These culture fights that Milei is talking about is just about to begin.
“I think the chances for the right to win it are better than they’ve ever been.
“This is not, as Churchill once said, this is not the beginning of the end, it is the end of the beginning, and the real fight is starting now.”
