Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says China knows Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “won’t push back” against the country.
Mr Canavan’s comments come after a navy incident involving Australian and Chinese warships near Japan left multiple Aussie sailors injured after being subjected to sonar pulses from a Chinese destroyer.
The Nationals Senator criticised the Prime Minister’s “failure” to “stand up” for the Australian men and women who serve in the Australian armed forces.
“We haven’t even got a prime Minister with the guts on behalf of them to raise these issues with the country that’s caused by them,” Mr Canavan said.
“China now knows that the Prime Minister won’t push back against anything they do.
“That puts us in a very dangerous position as a country”.
