Israel government spokesperson Avi Hyman says a deal with Hamas to free the innocent Israeli hostages is underway but the outcome will not stop the war with the Palestinian terrorist group.
“This is not the end of the war against Hamas,” Mr Hyman told Sky News Australia.
“We have two key objectives in the war against Hamas; one is to fully destroy Hamas, both militarily and their ability to govern Gaza as they have tyrannically for the last 16 years.
“We will free Gaza from Hamas and we will release those 240 hostages.
“This is a brief cessation of violence and then we will crack on to destroy Hamas and to release all of the hostages so that we can create a better day for the people of Gaza and the people of Israel.”
