In the first session, we will have learned the importance of attention as understood by Simone Weil. In this final teaching session we’ll focus on the way we pay attention to other people, which I will call regard. We’ll continue to learn from Weil, particularly her powerful concepts of Affliction, Slavery and Force. We’ll also learn from James Baldwin and his prophetic view from the underside in a test case for if we’re truly ready to treat each person as made in the image and likeness of God.
