A suspect was killed after being involved in two back-to-back shootouts with Arizona police on January 6 and 7. Authorities said the first shootout happened when Scottsdale police attempted to serve an arrest warrant for Kenneth Hearne, a 31-year-old wanted for an alleged sexual assault incident dating back to October. Hearne allegedly shot an officer before fleeing his apartment complex. The next day, Phoenix police found Hearne in Tempe, where he was shot and killed after allegedly opening fire on officers. The injured Scottsdale officer was treated for his injury and is expected to make a full recovery.
