STORYLINE:
Palestinians mourned their dead on Saturday as the number killed pushed past 11,000.
More than 11,070 Palestinians, two-thirds of them women and minors, have been killed since the war began.
That's according to the Gaza Health Ministry, part of the strip's Hamas-run government, which does not differentiate between civilian and militant deaths.
Another 2,650 people have been reported missing.
The Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza is the only official source for Gaza casualties.
The ministry is the only official source for Gaza casualties. In previous wars, the ministry's counts have held up to U.N. scrutiny, independent investigations and even Israel's tallies.
At least 1,200 people have been killed in Israel, mainly in the initial Hamas attack, and 41 Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza since the ground offensive began, Israeli officials say.
