UN agencies have reacted with collective horror after two of its schools in Gaza's Jabalia refugee camp were hit by missiles, with children among dozens of people feared dead.
Thousands of Gazans had fled to schools, believing they would be safe from the fighting taking place between Israel and Hamas.
It is so far unclear whether the devastation was caused by an Israeli airstrike or a failed Hamas rocket.
