NOTES ON THE COMPOSER
========================
Zequinha de Abreu was born in Santa Rita do Passa Quatro, São Paulo state. He was a popular piano player and composer and also played in the theatre, and silent movies. He composed numerous waltz and "choros": "Sururú na Cidade", "Branca", "Tardes em Lindóia", etc. But his most famous work is "Tico-Tico no Fubá", played by the American organist Ethel Smith and sang by Carmen Miranda in Copacabana (1947). The original title was "Tico-Tico no Farelo"; because of the lack of written tradition, Tico-Tico is played in various melodic versions all over the world.
