The old heating device chair used by Iranian people is known as "Samovar chair". This type of chair was used to keep the lower part of the body warm through the use of direct and natural heat. The samovar seat was traditionally used using a fire pit that was placed under it.
The structure of the Iranian samovar seat was usually made of wood. In the lower part of the seat, there was an empty space big enough to place the fire temple. The fire temple was a place under which a fire was lit and its heat was emitted by the wall of the lower part of the seat.
The people who sat on the samovar seat benefited from the heat of the fire temple by placing their feet in the empty space under the seat. This heat was transferred to their legs and the lower part of their body and kept them warm in cold seasons or in low temperature environments.
The samovar chair is one of the symbols of Iranian culture and tradition and was used in Iranian homes and gatherings in the past. With the advancement of technology and modernity, the use of the traditional samovar seat has decreased and there are more modern alternatives for heating the environment.
