chhal baliye jadu kar gaya haye kya karu
kanhaiya jadu kar gayo haye kya karu mai
haye kya karu mai chhal baliya jadu haye haye
kanhaiya jadu kar gayo bhar pichkari chhaliya ne mari
rang se bhar di chunriya hamari
bhar pichkari chhaliya ne mari
rang se bhar di chunriya hamari
apne hi rang me mohe rang gayo
haye kya karu mai chhal baliya jadu
haye haye kanhaiya jadu kar gayo
man ki dagariya pag pag chhalke pag pag chhalke
man ki dagariya pag pag chhalke aayi hu apne kanha se milke
milke kanhaiya daga de gayo chhal
baliya jadu kar gaya haye kya kru
haye kya karu mai chhal baliya jadu
haye haye kanhaiya jadu kar gayo
mai to kisi ki laz na rakhu
murli ki dhun pe chham chham nachu
mai to kisi ki laz na rakhu
murli ki dhun pe chham chham nachu
murli bajake man har gayo haye kya karu mai
chhal baliye jadu haye haye kanhaiya jadu kar gayo haye kya karu...

Madhumati was born in 1938 in a remote village near Maharashtra. She made her debut as a dancer in 1957 in an unreleased Marathi movie. Madhumati got married at the early age of 19 to Manohar Deepak. She busied herself throughout the 1960s by dancing in Punjabi, Marathi, Hindi, Bhojpuri and South Indian movies. She was often compared to the great dancer Helen in terms of her dancing abilities and looks. She made her exit in 1977 and made a comeback in 2001. After the passing of her husband in 2002, she now occupies herself by running the Madhumati dance academy in Mumbai.
Way back in the late 1950s, a Parsi girl entered the film world as a dancer. Her name was Madhumati. Apparently, in her career of around 25 years, she claimed to have worked in over 1000 films which include Hindi films and also regional ones in Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bhojpuri & South Indian language. She did more than 30 Punjabi films in which she had dance numbers and also played lead and supporting roles in some. In her heydays she was called 'Poor Man's Helen' but she definitely had her own identity.
As Said Madhumati.....
I was always interested in dance but was discouraged from learning this art because my father was a judge and mother a housewife. I soon started doing dance performances on stage, which is when I got film offers. I was happy with my stage dance performances and was not interested in a film career. I was still in school and my father did was also against my working in films. Later on, I accepted one film offer for the sake of experience. It was a Marathi film and offers kept coming. My father had no more issues about my working in films though he had put a condition that I will only do dance in films and must not accept acting offers. I left my studies after matric but got appointed as a dance teacher in a Govt school, even though I was hardly fifteen.
Besides acting, I was also teaching dance at school and later formed a dance group with female dancers only. Manohar Deepak ji became very famous after doing Bhangra numbers in Jagte Raho & Naya Daur. He had his own Bhangra Group and wanted me to collaborate for some stage performances. Initially, I refused as I had my own dance group but later on we were together on some stage tours so I started performing for his group. I was supposed to do only dance in films as per my promise to my father but Deepak ji persuaded me to take up acting assignments too. By then I was typecast in dancing roles only.
