Pakistan confirmed that it carried out air strikes against militant targets in Iran, days after Tehran launched attacks on Pakistani territory. Pakistan's ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar’ — a phrase which loosely translates to “death to the guerrilla fighters", has sent tensions between the two neighbors soaring. The new strikes mean both Pakistan and Iran have now taken the extraordinary step of attacking militants on each other’s soil. Iran and Pakistan share a 900-km somewhat lawless border that enables militants to move freely between nations.
