New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, sued Former US President Donald Trump in 2022 under a state law that gives state attorney general broad power to probe persistent fraud in business dealings. Trump is accused of inflating his company's financial statements to get better deals on loans and insurance. The New York Attorney General wants the judge to impose $370 million in penalties. Trump reiterated the entire trial was a "witch hunt" sponsored by Democrats, and it was "election interference."
