Donald Trump scored a record-setting win in the Iowa caucuses with his rivals languishing far behind.
Trump's victory sends a resounding message that the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination is his to lose.
And yet, despite his strong showing in Iowa and in the polls, his four criminal cases hover over his campaign.
But Associated Press reporter Bill Barrow says that the former president continues to thrive with his supporters.
“This is unprecedented in American political history, having one, a former president returning like this but under such a cloud. Yet we saw in Iowa, and we've seen on the ground and so many other states and in national polls, that it doesn't seem to bother Republican voters very much. And in fact, they solidify Trump as so many of his supporters believe he's being treated unfairly,” Barrow said.
The legal issues facing the former president as he’s running again for the presidency makes for an unprecedented moment in American political history. On top of this, the country could be seeing yet another face-off between Former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
