On March 19, 2022, Maricopa police responded to a car in a ditch near Honeycutt and White and Parker roads. Officers arrested Kio A. Thomas. She ultimately faced charges of assault on officers and Fire/Medical personnel called to the police station to assess her health.
Maricopa police provided six hours of body camera footage from the incident, which InMaricopa edited to the 11 1/2 -minute video above.
According to Pinal County Superior Court documents, Thomas faced two counts of aggravated assault on an officer. Those two charges were dismissed by the court on May 6 in exchange for a guilty plea to one lesser count of attempted aggravated assault on an officer, with a sentence of supervised probation.
