For the first time, Australians have witnessed one of their own ascend the throne as Mary Donaldson became Queen of Denmark.
Elizabeth Klestov – an Australian who organised a celebration to mark the proclamation – says it’s such a “historic and momentous occasion”.
“It was lovely to bring a few people together to celebrate the day,” she told Sky News Australia.
“This is a significant time in history ... it was really something special.
“The mood here is wonderful – it's a fantastic time to be in Copenhagen.”
