Sky News Reporter Julia Bradley says it’s almost as if Queen Mary and King Frederik X have “almost scared off” the republican movement in Denmark.
“I was speaking with a local journalist just yesterday about ... that republican movement, it’s just simply not as strong here in Denmark compared to other parts of the world,” she said.
“And he said he was speaking to a republican in Denmark, and they’ve said, ‘oh, while we support this movement, we still admit that we absolutely love the royal family’.”
Ms Bradley said it seems like Queen Mary has “won the public over”.
This comes after King Frederik X and Queen Mary ascended to the throne on Sunday afternoon, local time, after Queen Margrethe II declared her abdication.
