Attorney Joey Tacopina represented Donald Trump in the case brought against Trump by E. Jean Carroll. With Tacopina as his lead attorney, Trump went down in flames, with the jury ordering Trump to pay Ms Carroll $5 million in damages.
Now, with Trump's New York trial date approaching in his New York prosecution for for falsifying business records in connection with his hush money payments to Stormy Daniels to gain unfair advantage in the 2016 presidential elections, Tacopina has filed a motion to withdraw as Trump's attorney, in essence trying to quit the case.
This video discusses the most usual reasons defense attorneys try to quit cases, how there are different standards to withdraw from a civil case versus a criminal case, and how judges generally resolve such motions.
