Akira Sone sealed her Olympic debut with a record ninth judo gold medal by a Japanese athlete at Tokyo 2020 with a victory over Cuba’s Idalys Ortiz. The 21-year-old also became the youngest Olympic champion in the women’s +78kg event.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games took place in Japan, from July 23, 2021 to August 8, 2021.
