This video is an introduction into multipying numbers using the written method - short multiplication. It teaches children how to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number.
National Curriculum Objectives:
Year 3: Write and calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division using the multiplication tables that they know, including for two-digit numbers times one-digit numbers, using mental and progressing to formal written methods.
Year 4: Multiply two-digit and three-digit numbers by a one-digit number using formal written layout.
CfW Progression Step 2: I have explored and can use my understanding of multiplicative relationships to multiply and divide whole numbers, using a range of representations, including sharing, grouping and arrays.
