Audi A8/ S8 and Audi Q8 e-tron S can be equipped with Audi Matrix LED - Audi Digital Matrix Light. By default, the light switch is set to Automatic and the high beams are on every time when it is possible. The system is switched on outside of urban areas (or - it depends on the country law - when there is no street lights) at speeds of 30 km/h (18.6 mph) and above. As soon as the camera on the windshield detects other vehicles or city limits, the controller switches off individual points of light or dims them in over a dozen stages, creating several possible light patterns. The Digital Matrix LED light masks out other vehicles while continuing to fully illuminate the zones between and adjacent to them. Digital Matrix LED headlights use DMD technology (digital micromirror device). Each headlight has approximately 1.3 million micromirrors that break down the light of a particularly powerful LED into tiny pixels. The lane and orientation lighting emits a carpet of light that illuminates the driver's own lane particularly brightly. Check real-life test and review of Audi A8 and Q8 e-tron Digital Matrix LED.
