Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro ordered the withdrawal of “part of the air-naval resources” deployed on its Atlantic coast on December 31. The decision came ahead of the “departure” of the British warship, HMS Trent, from “disputed waters” with Guyana. Venezuelan Defence Minister, Vladimir Padrino, in a post on X, said Venezuela “will remain alert and vigilant against any provocation”. Earlier, Venezuela said it would continue to deploy troops until the British military vessel leaves the waters off the coast of the two South American nations.
