There are two sets of wise men in this story: the Magi, and the Chief priests and scribes. The Magi have travelled a great distance to find the newly-born King of the Jews; Herod’s wise men do nothing - even though Bethlehem is just down the road, 10 kilometres to the south of Jerusalem. But they don’t budge.
