A U.S. Senator and a witness came close to blows during a Senate HELP committee hearing on Nov. 14, 2023.
The episode unfolded when Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma was questioning Teamsters President Sean O'Brien.
Mullin resurfaced tweets by O’Brien from June, which were made after the two got into a heated back and forth at a previous hearing.
At one point during the exchange, Mullin stood from his seat and told O’Brien to quote "stand your butt up."
Committee chairman Senator Bernie Sanders attempted to stop the altercation but it continued with several minutes of name calling.
No punches were exchanged and eventually the two appeared to finish the back and forth by agreeing to have coffee.
