Israel's military has said its forces "are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Al-Shifa Hospital," after several days of fighting around the complex.
While Israeli officials said they are taking steps to avoid civilian casualties, Gaza Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra said an Israeli warning that it was about to raid the hospital came just minutes before the attack was launched.
